The newest travel and tourism industry event is going digitally but will continue to highlight local businesses to “honour the spirit of travel in recognition of the industry’s strength, selflessness and resiliency, even in the face of adversity.”
It is according to a official news release, the celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week will continue through Saturday, concluding with a celebration of family and friends.
On Sunday, Shenandoah County Tourism and Economic Development kicked off the week by sharing #SpiritOfTravel and #ShenCoStrong! hashtags with a video on social media.
Visit Shenandoah County, Virginia, states that they cannot encourage, they are cannot encourage folks to visit, they still want to celebrate all of the great things to do and places to see in Shenandoah County, and hopefully give everyone a little taste of their beautiful region, because when they stay at home orders are lifted, the region and its tourist attractions will be waiting for global tourists.
Here in Shenandoah County, sometimes it can seem like the world is far away. But these days, the world is closer than ever,” the video notes while portraying scenes from around the county.
Today, online shopping will be highlighted. Tuesday will be Take Out Tuesday, showcasing area lunch and dinner options for takeout, pick-up or delivery. On Wednesday, multiple virtual tours will be given at the website as well as its social media accounts. Thursday is Thirsty Thursday, highlighting local places to find alcoholic beverages. Friday has been dubbed Fresh Air Friday, where folks are encouraged to enjoy “scenic drives and majestic views of the county.”
National Travel and Tourism Week is an annual tradition created by the U.S. Travel Association when travel and tourism professionals across the country unite to celebrate the value travel holds for the economy, businesses and personal wellbeing.
