NEW DELHI: Online bike taxi aggregator Rapido is set to expand its footprint in the logistics segment with the launch of hyperlocal delivery services to take on the likes of Dunzo and Swiggy Genie and sustain operations amid a severe disruption in demand for mobility solutions following the Covid-19 outbreak.

Rapido is targeting garnering a quarter of its revenues from its logistics venture, up from 10% earlier. The company has tied up with 20 clients to deliver essentials in the past few weeks. Apart from this, it has been testing its hyperlocal delivery service in Bengaluru and Kolkata. It will shortly launch its pickup and drop-off services in Delhi.

“Transportation services have completely come to a standstill during the lockdown. Some plans we had discussed earlier are now being accelerated. Logistics services will now play a significant role and increase to 25% of our overall business,” Aravind Sanka, cofounder, Rapido, told ET. At present, Rapido is operating its delivery services in 30 cities.
