CHANDIGARH:
Ambala railway division on Sunday decided to ply special trains from five
stations in Haryana for stranded residents in various states. Stations shortlisted for the purpose are Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak, Bhiwani and Rewari. From these stations, trains will ply to different states in accordance with requirement.
G M Singh, divisional railway manager, Ambala division said a communication was sent to the Haryana government about listed stations. He said trains would ply from stations which have proper space for social distancing and availability of water. The
Railway Protection Force will also be asked to make proper arrangements, he said.
The railway department has asked the government to give a detailed list of passengers with phone numbers. An official said this information is being collected to ensure that if any passenger meets any eventuality necessitating assistance, he/ she can be traced by the health team.
Sources in the government said they are demanding more stations from where trains can ply to decrease the risk of infection. Officials said talks are on with the railway officials to see if the number of stations can be increased.
Sources said a large number of labourers from border states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh will be sent by special Shramik Trains from different stations in Haryana. The government is chalking out plans to send residents of different states, who are less in number, to New Delhi to board trains to their native states.
State nodal officers will coordinate with their counterparts in other states and prepare a detailed list of inbound passengers. District nodal officers will ensure proper thermal screening, clean toilet facility and medical teams at railway stations.
Proper protocol will be observed for movement of people to their respective districts. Passengers need to bring permits while travelling in trains. Detailed train movement will be worked out in advance by state nodal officers and railway officers and will be intimated to the deputy commissioner as well as state nodal officers concerned in advance.
