Coronavirus Highlights: 2,553 New Cases Reported, Record 1,074 Patients Cured In Last 24 Hrs

The total number of deaths in the country has now risen to 1,373, and the cases have climbed to 42,533 including 29,453 active ones.

India recorded another 72 deaths due to novel coronavirus in the past 24 hours, while the number of positive cases showed a sharp jump of 2,553, taking the tally to 42,533.

The total number of deaths in the country has now risen to 1,373, and the cases have climbed to 42,533 including 29,453 active ones.

Meanwhile, China still faced the risk of a rebound in COVID-19 cases as 10 provincial-level regions have reported new locally-transmitted coronavirus cases over the last two weeks, a top health official warned on Monday.

The National Health Commission (NHC) said that three new confirmed COVID-19 cases were reported on Sunday. All three were Chinese arriving from abroad.

2:50 PM: While the number of cases in Thane and Navi Mumbai municipal corporation limits has crossed 300 each, Kalyan Dombivali area, the district's third major civic body, is close to 200 coronavirus positive cases, health officials said on Monday.

2:20 PM: Italy on Monday began Phase 2 of its COVID-19 lockdown de-escalation, which will see some measures easing and the restart activities.

Manufacturing of products like textiles and fashion items, construction and the wholesale trade linked to active sectors will resume activities with 4.4 million people expected to return to work, reports Efe news.

1:41 PM: Sixty-seven new COVID19 positive cases have been reported in Andhra Pradesh, taking the total tally to 1650. There are 1093 active cases now, says Arja Srikanth, State Nodal Officer.

11:27 AM: The US continues to lead the global tally with 1,158,041 COVID-19 cases, followed by Spain (217,466), Italy (210,717), the UK (187,842), France (168,925), Germany (165,664), Russia (134,687), Turkey (126,045), and Brazil (101,826). In terms of COVID-19 fatalities, the US accounted for the world's highest at 67,682, the CSSE data revealed.
