Punjab: Second batch of 500 Kashmiri students leaves for home

CHANDIGARH: Even as the third phase of nationwide Covid-19 lockdown came into effect, more than 500 Kashmiri students stuck in Punjab left early morning Monday to be united with their families.
Akshay Sharma, state president National Students' Union of India (NSUI) said, "Students pursuing their education across various colleges in Mohali and Patiala had approached us through our national media coordinator Nadeem Khan expressing their wish to go home in the wake of Covid-induced curfew and lockdown."
Students from Aryans College, Chitkara University, SVIET, besides Adesh Group of Colleges, CGC Mohali, Sachdeva Group of Pharmacy and SUS Group of colleges left at around 7.30 am from Mohali in buses arranged by the district administration, in strict adherence to all social distancing norms, Sharma disclosed further.
A first batch of 130 students had left for their homes last Thursday from Rajpura after the State government had arranged for their transport.
