Himachal Pradesh detects fresh positive case of coronavirus

SHIMLA: One more positive case of coronavirus was reported from Mandi district, which otherwise was in green zone so far, of Himachal Pradesh on Monday. Sample of a 30-year-old man, who had returned to his village in Drubal panchayat of Jogindernagar sub division in Mandi district on April 29 was tested positive at Shri Lal Bahadur Government Medical Ner Chowk.
Now Himachal Pradesh has total 41 positive cases, of whom two are active ones.
With the detection of fresh positive case among those who have returned from outside state, it is being feared that number of positive cases would rise in coming days as around one lakh people have entered state so far.
After the detection of fresh positive case, Mandi district administration has decided to seal the areas falling under a three-km radius of the village by declaring it as containment zone. The youth, who was working in a private company in Delhi, is being shifted to medical college for treatment, while process has been started to trace his contact history right from Delhi as there are chances that people from same region where the youth was staying might have come to Himachal Pradesh.
Till Monday morning, Himachal Pradesh was having just one active case of Corona virus from Sirmaur district and it was expected that state will become Corona free by Tuesday.
In Himachal Pradesh so far, total 15,013 people were put under surveillance till Monday, of them 6,637 persons have completed 28 days of quarantine, while 8,376 persons are under active surveillance. Total 7,432 persons were tested for Covid-19 till date, of whom 7,281 have been tested negative, while 41 have been tested positive so far, while result is awaited in 110 cases. Of the total 41 positive cases, 34 have recovered, four have migrated out of state, one patient died, while two cases are under treatment.
