SHIMLA: Chief minister
Jai Ram Thakur has requested the
Maharashtra government to provide assistance to residents of
Himachal Pradesh stuck in Mumbai and other places of Maharashtra in wake of countrywide lockdown due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Thakur, in a letter addressed to his Maharashtra counterpart
Uddhav Thackeray, said that Himachal Pradesh government was receiving several SOS calls for Himachalis stranded in Maharashtra and for extending necessary assistance to them.
He said that most of these people want to come back to their native places. He also requested Uddhav to take care of the stranded residents of Himachal Pradesh and ensure proper food, shelter and medical care to them.
A spokesperson of the state government said that people who desire to come to Himachal Pradesh or go out of Himachal Pradesh and do not have a vehicle, should register themselves on http://covid19epass.hp.gov.in and they need not to apply for COVID e-Pass.
He said that those with vehicles can apply for ePass on http://covid19epass.hp.gov.in portal.
On the basis of the registration on this portal, the state government will get information about the places, where the people who wish to come back to the state are stranded. Similarly, the government will also get information about the number of people from other states wanting to return to their states from Himachal.
The state government will make necessary arrangements for the transportation of stranded people on the basis of information gathered through registration. The state has appointed nodal officers to ensure arrangements of transportation of the stranded people to their destination by coordinating with the concerned states.
Therefore, all the desirous people are requested to register their details on http://covid19epass.hp.gov.in instead of contacting directly to the nodal officers so that they could be helped.
