JAIPUR: In continuation to transportation of students and migrant workers, the state government in association with the
North Western Railway (NWR) and West Central Railway (WCR) on Sunday sent four trains to various destinations.
These included trains from Kota to Baroni and Kota to Gaya carrying students while trains from Nagaur to Dhanbad were also operated. The state government is also in touch with various state governments to work out the possibility of bringing inbound trains from other states too.
According to sources, two trains carrying students were planned from Kota to Baroni. “One train already left on Sunday afternoon and another left in the evening. We have also operated a train to Gaya from Kota. This has been a successful affair with the help of railway authorities,” said Ravi Jain, transport commissioner.
He added that state government has also deployed health workers at these stations where passengers through thermal screening. “It has been a need-based programme. For any destination, we need at least 1,200 passengers to transport,” Jain added.
Likewise, a train from Nagaur to Ranchi left at 8pm, he added.
For trains which are scheduled for Monday, a senior officer of railways said, “On Monday, trains include Kota to Darbhanga (Bihar) which is likely to leave at 11 am, Ajmer to Dankuni (West Bengal) at 11am, Jaipur to Danapur (Bihar) at 4 pm and Udaipur to Muzaffarpur at 8 pm,” said an officer.
The state government so far has facilitated migrant workers and coaching students to reach their native states. “We are constantly working on schedules with the authorities of railways to arrange for the trains and send students and migrant workers,” said an officer.
Transport authorities said there are no plans to get inbound trains to Rajasthan. “Our migrant workers are mostly in Maharastra and Gujarat who are coming by bus. So far, there are no plans to get trains from these states,” said an officer.
