No instruction yet on reopening of factories

Noida: Factory owners and industrialists were left wondering on Sunday night as the Noida administration issued no specific instruction on how manufacturing units are supposed to function from Monday.
The Noida district magistrate, however, tweeted late on Sunday night that the administration was planning a portal for issuing passes to industries online.
While UP government came out with its own set of guidelines on Sunday evening, the authority to impose them in a particular area rests with the local administration. “We’ve been waiting for the local guidelines. Even if we’re allowed to operate, there’s no public transport to ferry the workers to factories,” said Kulmani Gupta, president, Indian Industries Association (Noida).
According to the government’s guidelines, special economic zones, export oriented units and industrial units associated with essential goods will be allowed to function after securing permission from the administration. “We have been waiting for the local administration to respond. The state government has announced that organisations can be allowed to operate with 33% strength. But how is this possible without proper transport?” asked Amit Mehra, board member of the Noida Special Economic Zone Entrepreneurs Association.
