Curbs lifted from 7 of 20 hotspots in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: The number of Covid-19 hotspots in city came down from 20 to 13 on Sunday evening with the district administration easing restrictions in seven localities after a review which showed no fresh infections being reported from these areas in the last 20-28 days.
The decision will make life a bit easy for about 50,000 residents of these localities, including ShaktiNagar in Indiranagar, Vijay Khand in Gomtinagar, Rajeev Nagar in Telibagh, Metro station near Munshi Pulia, Elina enclave in Khurramnagar, IIM power house and IIM Road in Madiaon.
Police barriers have been lifted from these areas allowing people to step out to buy essentials. These areas were sealed and marked hotspots after residents were found infected. However, they will have to abide by the restrictions being followed across the city.
Additional district magistrate (east) K P Singh said the decision was taken by a joint team of administration, health department and police as per the safety protocol being followed to contain Covid-19 spread.
Localities still marked hotspots include Topkhana, Ramdas Ka Hata and Sadar in Cantonment, while Malviya Nagar and Kareta in Bazarkhala have been clubbed into one hotspot.
Similarly, Phoolbagh, Khandari Bazaar, Sabzi mandi, Nazirabad road in Kaiserbagh area and Bawarchi locality and Katra Azam Beg in Chowk continue to be hotspots and will remain sealed.
Birhana in Naka, Gulab Nagar in Saadatganj and Nai Basti in Triveninagar will also remain sealed till next review.
