Pune Municipal Corporation to review lockdown relaxations after 4 days

PMC Commissioner, Shekhar Gaikwad said, "After the Central and State government orders, the administration has decided to allow a limited number of non-essential commodity selling shops. We are working on to categories these shops with the help of police."

Pune: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will review its decision on opening shops selling non-essential commodities, including liquor shops, in the non-containment zones after four days. It has been forty days that the city, like elsewhere, has been under the coronavirus lockdown.

Addressing media on Monday, PMC Commissioner, Shekhar Gaikwad said, "After the Central and State government orders, the administration has decided to allow a limited number of non-essential commodity selling shops. We are working on to categories these shops with the help of police."

He further said, "We will take a review on a daily basis, and the decision on further relaxations or imposing more restrictions in non-hot containment areas will be taken after four days depending upon the number of COVID-19 cases."
