In quarantine for 32 days, 20 protest

Ghaziabad: Around 20 people, including Tablighi Jamaat members and their contacts, did not eat food on Sunday to protest for not being allowed to go home even after spending 32 days in quarantine at Sunder Deep College.
Health officials informed their list have gone to the police for verification and they would be released once they get the approval. Meanwhile, more than 50 TJ members were released from quarantine facilities on Sunday. Health officials said another 150 will be released by Monday.
Owing to several FIRs registered against TJ members, including foreigners, the health department had decided not to release anyone without getting a nod from the police.
Another reason which had prompted the health department to issue this order was that the police ensured these inmates stay in home-quarantine for the next 14 days and do not violate the norms of quarantine protocol.
Chief medical officer Dr NK Gupta said all inmates would be released when the verification report comes. Those who have completed the quarantine period have been released after consulting cops.
Those who had either attended the religious congregation of Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin or came in their contact with those who did, were quarantined in 10 centres created from March 30.
