DSGMC to provide food packets in special trains ruining for migrant workers at Delhi railway stations

JALANDHAR: Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has announced to provide free food packets for migrant workers, pilgrims and stranded students traveling in special nonstop trains back to their homes.
"These packets would have food for entire travel period," said DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Monday.
He said that the distribution of free food packets will start from Monday onwards and the volunteers of DSGMC will distribute these food packets to railway passengers at New Delhi Railways Station, Old Delhi Railways Station, Nizammudin, Anand Vihar Railways station, etc depending on the route of the train and demand for the food packets.
He said that these food packets prepared in the Langar kitchen of the Gurdwaras would be distributed to each and every needy passenger and additional food packets if required by any passengers, would also be provided to them to make their journey comfortable.
He said that DSGMC volunteers would coordinate with local railways platform authorities for ensuring timely distribution to each passenger before the train is moved out of the railway station. He said that every effort would be made to provide a fresh, hot and nutritious langar meal to homebound passengers standard at various states due to nation wide lockdown to make their journey memorable and comfortable.
"The Langar will be prepared by the Gurdwara Sewadars who have been working in the gurdwaras for several years. In the past couple of weeks, these Sewadars have been working around 15-16 hours every day to meet the growing demand for meals. One mini truck of the gurdwara will be used to transport langar to various railways stations from time to time," he added.
