The Perth couple keeping their COVID lockdown colourful
While most people have spent their time in lockdown either baking, logging in to Zoom meetings, or filling out endless Facebook questionnaires, one Perth couple has taken to staging elaborate tableaux using different colour themes and objects they had lying around the house.
Andrew Joske and his partner Darnell Luke have teamed with a theme to keep themselves - and their housemates - occupied during lockdown.
Andrew Joske and Darnell Luke live in Perth’s southern suburbs. What started out as a bit of fun after a few drinks one evening has turned into a “thing”, with Andrew sharing the photos on social media.
“It’s hysterical,” he said.
“I’ve never posted anything more popular.
Blue steel: The image that kicked it all off.
“Usually I get five ‘likes’ on something I share.
“People seem to like it.”
While the colour-coded scenes were not the couple’s original idea, it was “something to do” and a “bit of fun” for Andrew and Darnell, who managed to rope their housemates in to help with their project.
“People I don’t even know have requested we do certain colours,” Andrew said.
“Next up will be pink. We’re branching out now that restrictions have eased a bit.
Orange concentrate: Andrew says this one has been the couple's most popular.
“We’re probably going to do an animal print one, too.”
So far, the most popular scene set up by Andrew and Darnell has been the orange one, but beige is Andrew’s favourite.
“I just like dressing up,” he said.
“We’ve got a big dress-up box and no kids, so make of that what you will.”
