seer Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami has urged both the central and state governments to
ban the sale of
liquor permanently and thereby realize the dream of
Mahatma Gandhi of a liqour-free India.
In his memorandum to
deputy commissioner K
Rajendra, the seer stated that prohibition of sale of liquor should continue even after the lockdown is lifted. With the ban on liquor sale, more number of families were leading a happy and peaceful life. The crime rate and domestic violence also had come down, he said, adding that governments should try to collect revenue from other sources than liquor.
