Ban liquor permanently: Seer

Bagalkot: Kudala Sangam Lingayat Panchamasali Peetha seer Basava Jaya Mrutyunjaya Swami has urged both the central and state governments to ban the sale of liquor permanently and thereby realize the dream of Mahatma Gandhi of a liqour-free India.
In his memorandum to deputy commissioner K Rajendra, the seer stated that prohibition of sale of liquor should continue even after the lockdown is lifted. With the ban on liquor sale, more number of families were leading a happy and peaceful life. The crime rate and domestic violence also had come down, he said, adding that governments should try to collect revenue from other sources than liquor.
