Woman, son among eight new Covid-19 cases in Ghaziabad

Ghaziabad: Eight people tested positive for Covid-19 in the district on Sunday. They include the husband of a Ghaziabad municipal corporation councillor, who had tested positive two days ago. Four people, who came in the chain of contact of a Tablighi Jamaat member from Islam Nagar in Kaila Bhatta also tested positive.
Meanwhile, a mother-son duo residing in a highrise in Vaishali’s Sector 5 were also added to the list. The eighth patient is a resident of Dasna who had undergone a test after complaints of cough and cold.
The councillor from Vasundhara had tested positive on Thursday. She was admitted to ESIC Hospital in Sahibabad. Her husband too was admitted to the same hospital on Sunday, while their family members are being quarantined at IMS College.
Covid-19 was confirmed five days ago in the head constable of Delhi Police residing in Vaishali’s Sector 5. He was admitted to ESIC Hospital. His wife and 12-year-old son were subsequently quarantined at home with samples sent for investigation. They have now been admitted to the Covid Hospital in Sahibabad.
Three people from Kaila Bhatta tested positive on April 26 after coming in contact with Tablighi Jammat members. The health department had quarantined 17 people who had come in contact with them at IMS College. Now, four of the 17 have tested positive. These include a 13-year-old, two men aged 18 and 20, and a 37-year-old woman.
The number of Covid-19 positive patients in the district has increased to 82, out of which 32 are active. As many as 50 patients have gone home after recovery. The health department received 40 reports on Sunday, of which 33 were negative.
Notably, a 53-year-old Central government employee from Pratap Vihar area also tested positive in Delhi.
A 50-year-old man from Pratap Vihar died from Covid-19 at the GTB Hospital in Delhi. He was admitted in a critical condition three days ago.
