FARIDABAD: A total of seven people tested positive for
Covid-19 in
Faridabad on Saturday, taking the tally to 68, health officials said.
Meanwhile, as Faridabad continued to be in the red zone, the district administration added six new
containment zones but removed six from the previous list of 12.
Health officials said that those tested positive include the 10-year-old grandson of the patient who died due to coronavirus, two health workers of the ESIC Medical College and Hospital, two patients who had visited the
ESIC hospital, one woman who had delivered a child earlier this week and another pregnant woman
Meanwhile, Faridabad deputy commissioner Yashpal Yadav told TOI that the six new containment zones have been added since Covid
positive cases have been reported from these areas in the past two weeks.
Shiv Durga Vihar, Palwali village, Dabua Colony, Sector 88 Block F, Chawla Colony Block D, NIT-A,B,C blocks, Sector-28, Fatehpur Taga, Badkhal and Ankheer village, Khori, Sector-16 and Green Field Colony are in the current list of 12 containment zones.
“While the areas already in the containment zone are under surveillance, the residents of new containment zones will be checked for influenza-like symptoms and those found symptomatic will be tested and quarantined,” said another district administration official.
Health department officials also said of the 3,283 samples sent so far for Covid-19 testing, results of 2,993 have come negative while reports of 227 are awaited. Moreover, a total of 499 primary and secondary contacts of the Covid-19 positive patients in the district have been identified and quarantined.
“So far, the department has put around 4,246 people on home isolation. Moreover, 1,256 people with travel history have completed surveillance period of 28 days. A Covid death of a 68-year-old man has also been reported in the district,” a health official said.
