Himachal Pradesh officer donates blood to save lives

SHIMLA: Forty two-year-old Prashant Deshta, the sub-divisional magistrate of Nalagarh in Solan district has ensured that medical services are not hampered in his area due to lockdown and curfew. Going a step forward to serve the people of his area, Deshta voluntariyl donated blood to a needy patient.
On April 23, Deshta had received a call about the shortage of blood at PGI Chandigarh where 14 units blood was needed. Sensing the gravity of situation, he arranged 12 donors as still 2 unit blood was needed, he, along with his personal security officer donated the blood.
In another case of medical emergency, a young girl had suffered fracture and she needed help. On coming to know about the medical emergency, Deshta himself spoke to a doctor in Ropar and sent the girl in his own vehicle where she was treated. Similarly, Deshta had also helped a Thalassemic child, who was in need blood. He not only arranged the required blood for the child in Chandigarh, but also ensured that the child, who hails from a poor family, gets free treatment at a private hospital.
Deshta has established a medical cell in his office that looks after the medical emergencies of people in the area. Ambulances have been kept ready to ensure that people don't have to suffer due to lockdown and curfew.
