Covid-19 takes life of Ambala woman at PGI Chandigarh

AMBALA: A 63-year-old woman from Ratangarh, Ambala City, who had tested positive for Covid-19 on April 27, died at PGI, Chandigarh, on Saturday, the second virus-related death from the district.
“The woman, Santosh, had several health complications. She was a chronic kidney disease patient, had a liver disease and was a diabetic. She was surviving on dialysis for three years,” said civil surgeon Dr Kuldeep Singh.
PGI officials said, “The woman was on a ventilator. The cause of death is septic shock, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, and moderate pneumonia (Covid related).” Kuldeep Singh said the cremation would be conducted at a designated cremation ground in Chandigarh only. “We have issued passes to some of her family members for performing the last rites. A team from the headquarters of the state health department at Panchkula will coordinate with doctors at PGI, Chandigarh, for the cremation,” he said.
