As Goa has been declared as ‘green zone’ for the COVID-19 pandemic by the Centre, the state government on Sunday decided to allow resumption of  services  by government  and private buses, taxis and autorickshaws from Monday with 50 per cent capacity.

Offices of the government and its autonomous bodies will reopen on Monday with all precautions and following guidelines issued by the Centre.

Addressing media persons on Sunday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant sought people’s cooperation during the third phase of the nationwide lockdown that begins on Monday and will continue till May 17.

Movement of the people and transport vehicles will be allowed from 7 am to 7 pm, the Chief Minister said, clarifying  that travelling by two persons on a two-wheeler and four persons in  a four-wheeler,  an autorickshaw and a taxi will be allowed during the third phase of the lockdown.

“People working in  essential services units will be allowed to move out after 7 pm from May 4. Shops falling in the non-essential category, including hair cutting saloons, will be allowed to operate from 7 am to 7 pm. Liquor shops will have to shut by 6.30 pm. But public gathering places like hotels, malls, gyms, sports complexes, cinema theatres, casinos, spas will continue to  remain shut. Section 144 of CrPC will be in force till May 17,” he explained.

Sawant said that children below  10 years of age and the elderly people above  65 years of age should not move out of the  home.

On the Std X and XII exams, he said  that a  meeting will  be held on Monday to decide on it.

The Chief Minister informed that wearing of face masks and use of Arogya Setu app will be mandatory for government employees.
