I For India is Facebook's effort to entertain those quarantined, pay tribute to frontline workers, and help those financially hit by the lockdown
Tonight, some of the world’s most prominent and powerful voices will come together to stand in unison against the global pandemic. Facebook's home-to-home fundraiser concert, I For India, will see the global entertainment industry united to uplift our spirits during the global health crisis, salute those working on the frontlines of the issue, and raise funds for the COVID-19 relief efforts of GiveIndia. The organisation is an online donation platform for over 100 NGOs working on ground for relief efforts for people in need.
From actors like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Shah Rukh Khan, Will Smith, and Sophie Turner, to musicians including Anoushka Shankar, Ustad Zakir Hussain, AR Rahman, Bryan Adams, and Kevin Jonas—the concert features all our favourite Indian and international heavy hitters. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma from the Indian Cricket Team will also stand to support the cause.
“We recently launched Facebook Fundraisers, that allow people to leverage the full scale and power of the platform, and their passion, to direct resources to initiatives that can protect and save lives,” says Ajit Mohan, vice president and managing director of Facebook India. "The ‘I for India’ concert is the grand finale of these efforts, featuring well-known artists and influencers.”
I For India will be live globally on Facebook on Sunday, May 3 2020 at 7:30 pm IST. Livestream it here. Donate to the cause here
