DCPs, SPs can also issue inter-state emergency passes

Residents wanting to travel out of state wait outside the DGP office on Friday
HYDERABAD: As people from other states, who are in medical emergencies, and those who have lost family members are finding it extremely difficult to approach the DGP office and the Commissioners of police to obtain emergency passes, permission has been given to DCPs and SPs to issue emergency passes from Friday.
After news about migrant workers leaving the city in a special train started flashing on TV channels, several migrant workers started approaching state police headquarters seeking permission to return to their native places and formed a line along with emergency pass seekers. However, Saifabad police explained the situation to them and made them leave the place.
As the demand for inter-state travel passes increased, government issued new guidelines on Friday. As per the new guidelines issued by the government, zonal DCPs and SPs can now issue inter-state emergency passes to people who need to travel due to death in the family or for those who have medical emergencies and also for those who are stranded here due to lockdown. But students and migrant workers are excluded from the list.
Police have also been asked to permit vehicles carrying construction material as construction activity has been allowed for the ventures where workers are available on-site in the camps.
Permission has also been given to brick kilns and stone crushers to operate.
