Takeshi's Castle is slapstick, minus the comedy.Credit:

★★

7pm weeknights, Vice

This Thai version of a Japanese knock-’em-down game show might be a bit of mindless fun – the dubious representation of the short-statured and the genderfluid notwithstanding – if viewed on Thai television, without the cheesy British commentary. UK comic Russell Kane provides the bad puns and relentless lad jokes that accompany the cartoonish challenges, variously and repetitively involving slippery poles, giant mazes and a sort of WWE sumo match. It’s slapstick without the comedy.

Series return ★★★

8.30pm, 7mate

The salt-of-the-earth types who drive through hell or high water to deliver our goods face more than mud and flat tyres. Filmed during the summer bushfire disaster, this is a worker’s window into that horror, with trucker Mick King on a mission to deliver supplies to ravaged communities. And Lake Perkolilli, featured next in Desert Collectors Australia at 9.30pm, gets another guernsey here, as trucker Sludge transports a vintage car to the Red Dust Revival.

Hamish and Andy's schoolboy humour has yet to rub Australian viewers the wrong way.Credit:

★★★

7.30pm, Nine

With the second season of these palatable jokesters’ travelogue off the table even before the sudden halt to international tourism, a second look at their debut series is in order. It wasn’t that long ago that we watched Hamish Blake and Andy Lee climb out of their comfort zones and into a dogsled on an Alaskan glacier, then garnered some Colorado characters for a $US5 million treasure hunt, but their sophisticated schoolboy humour has yet to wear off.
