Jalandhar youth carries ASI on bonnet of his car after cops try to stop him

The youth and his father, who owns the car, were booked.
JALANDHAR: The Jalandhar Commissionerate police on Saturday booked a youth and his father for attempt to murder and under provisions of Epidemic Disease Act and Disaster Management Act after he carried a Punjab Police ASI on the bonnet of his car when the cops tried to stop him at a police naka.
The incident took place on Saturday morning and a passerby had captured the incident in his mobile phone camera. In the video, a policeman is seen on the bonnet of an Ertiga car while several other cops running after the vehicle. However, it was an auto driver who forced the youth to stop the car by blocking it from a side.

Jalandhar commissioner of police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that the accused, identified as Anmol Mehmi, was driving the car (PB O8 CS 6467) in the morning. On being stopped by police at a naka near Milk Bar Chowk, the youth sped the car and tried to escape. “The speeding car almost ran over assistant sub inspector Mulkh Raj,” he said.
Bhullar said that the accused, student of a local college, is 20-year-old and his father owns an Electric appliances shop.
The youth was arrested while he and his father, Parminder Kumar Mehmi (according to police, he is owner of the car) have been booked under sections 307, 353, 186, 188 and 34 IPC and section 3 (2) Epidemic Diseases Act and 51 Disaster Management Act at Police Station Division Number 6.
