Fatau Dauda opens up on failed stint at Orlando Pirates

2020-05-02 10:10

Ghanaian goalkeeper Fatau Dauda has opened up on his failed stint at Orlando Pirates.

Dauda joined the Buccaneers from Ashanti Gold in 2013, but only made three appearances in two years at the Soweto giants.

It seems Dauda was just unlucky as he was at the club when Senzo Meyiwa was starting claim the No 1 jersey and went to captain the team and the national side.

Dauda then moved on to fellow PSL club Chippa United.

Speaking on GTV Sports Plus, Dauda said: "I went at the time where the goalkeeper (Senzo Meyiwa) was the captain.

"I learnt a lot from him (Senzo), in fact, he was one of the best in the South African league at that time and he had earned a call-up to the South African national team."

Dauda returned to Ghana in 2015 to help Ashanti Gold win the league title.

He currently plays for Legon Cities in the Ghana Premier League which has been suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak.
