55-year-old Mira Road man tests Covid positive after death

MUMBAI: A 55-year-old Mira Road man who died in a city hospital on April 29 has tested positive for Covid-19, even as new areas have been affected by the virus.
The death toll in the Mira-Bhayander region is now three. The civic administration is worried as three positive cases were reported on Friday from three new areas in the region.
The victim, a resident of Haidari chowk, Naya Nagar in Mira Road was admitted to the Nair hospital. A vehicle mechanic by profession, he was carrying out repairs to the ambulances. He died on April 29 and his swab sample report arrived on Friday. It was positive.
Three new areas in the region have also seen positive cases. A 13-year-old girl from the Mira-Bhayander road tested positive. A 55-year-old woman from Koliwada in Bhayander (west) tested positive and is admitted to the BMC hospital in Dahisar. Another 21-year-old man from Bhayander (west), opposite Indralok, Phase 1 tested positive. He is in the Mira-Bhayander Covid hospital in Bhayander ( west).
The total positive cases have touched 161 in the region. Forty-five patients have been discharged so far.
The region is under complete shutdown till May 3. Home delivery of essentials is allowed and bakeries are open from 2am to 4am. The civic administration is likely to further extend the shutdown.
