Boomers and Gen-Xers probably won’t like some of the home truths spouted from the mouths of babes in this enlightening and ultimately endearing episode of the Q&A series. Upfront, anyone pretty much over the age of 18 is warned about their “use by” date and that soon enough, “you’re all gonna be dead”. Such cockiness aside, there is much to absorb here about the state of the planet from those about to inherit it.

Concerning the worst crime a woman can commit towards another, this Blue Mountains psycho-thriller based on Michael Robotham’s book follows a popular narrative of twisted female jealousy. This kind of story does the sisterhood no good, of course, but is well executed here by a cast headed by Downtown Abbey’s Laura Carmichael and Australian actress Jessica De Gouw (Arrow). Tonight’s events are the stuff of new mothers’ nightmares.

The writers’ room in-jokes (laugh tracks, closed captioning, random script notes) are not out of place in this acerbically self-referential animation series that tonight takes one of its bleakly funny trips into the future. Predictably, it’s is a dystopian capitalist dream for the aged Stewie, who decides to revisit the crumbling family home and its decrepit inhabitants. The gags tumble over each other, but among the best is the imagined pop music trajectory. American Dad follows at 9.30pm.
