Can The Lexus RC F Track Edition Beat The BMW M4 Competition Around A Track?

The Lexus RC F is not a subtle presence on the road. All you have to do is look at it and you will see what we are talking about.

Now, that’s the regular version, because Lexus also offers a special 2020 Track Edition that bumps the price to $97,675 with destination in the U.S., which is a nearly $32,000 more than the plain, but very capable RC F.

So, what do you get for that kind of money? After undergoing a strict diet that has helped shave 176 pounds (80 kg) over the RC F, made possible by the addition of the lightweight 19-inch BBS forged alloy wheels, Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors and six-piston calipers, titanium muffler and carbon fiber bodywork, the RC F Track Edition’s performance is very impressive.

The 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8, which is part of a dying breed, pumps out 472 HP and lets it hit the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark 3.96 seconds after setting off, and a top speed electronically limited to 168 mph (270 km/h).

The straight-line performance is not important in the video that you are about to see, as it was subjected to a fast lap around the Sachsenring in Germany, with an experienced driver at the helm. AutoBildSportsCars managed to complete the course in just 1:37.94, which makes it one and a half seconds faster than the standard RC F, and around 2 seconds quicker than the Ford Mustang GT.

But the question is, does it stand a chance against the 444 HP 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six BMW M4 Competition? You know what to do to find out.
