Coronavirus in Tamil Nadu: Medical technician tests positive for Covid-19 in Karur

TRICHY: A Covid-19 case was reported from Karur district on Friday morning, in less than 12 hours after the last patient in the district was discharged from hospital.
A 25-year-old man from Chinnavarapalayam, who tested positive for Covid-19, was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Karur. The man is a medical technician with 108 emergency ambulance services in Chennai. He came to his native place on April 24.
“His swab was taken for test because of his travel history. It tested positive for Covid-19,” said Government Medical College Hospital dean Dr E Theranirajan.
His parents have also been brought to the hospital. Samples were taken from 12 of his close contacts. “We are also tracing his secondary contacts,” said the dean.
The Government Medical College Hospital in Karur had treated 42 Covid-19 patients till Thursday. All of them were discharged. Among them, a 32-year-old woman was the last to be discharged.
