GURUGRAM: Three more people, including two health workers, tested positive for Covid-19 in Gurugram on Thursday, taking the total number of cases in the district to 57. While 38 patients have recovered so far, nine are active cases.
Only Mewat, with 58 cases, has a higher tally in the state, which has reported 339 cases.
All the three new patients in Gurugram are undergoing treatment at Sector 9 hospital, said chief medical officer JS Punia.

Among the new cases are those of two paramedical staff of Medanta Medicity — women aged 22 and 35, both residents of Sector 39, which is a containment zone. With this, the number of health workers to test positive for Covid in Gurugram has gone up to 14. Of these, 12 work at Medanta, and seven of them are residents of Jharsa, a containment zone. Sources in Medanta said they are not allowing anyone from Jharsa and Sector 39, both containment zones, to come to work.
The third patient is a 45-year-old woman who lives in Prem Nagar and was being treated for a stomach infection at a private hospital. She was tested for Covid-19 after she developed symptoms. She was later shifted to Sector 9 hospital after the results were positive.
The health department said they are actively tracing the contacts of all the three patients. “We have increased the sample collection in containment zones to trace more Covid-19 cases as soon as possible to curb the spread of the virus. We have increased surveillance in the city and restricted movement too,” said Punia.
The health department said it had sent 5,857 samples for testing till now, including 465 on Thursday. The reports of 301 samples are awaited.
Moreover, 11,707 people have been put under surveillance in the district.
