One dead, 7 injured in two separate shooting incidents

Jamshedpur: One was killed and seven injured in two separate shooting incidents in Jamshedpur. The shootings took place during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. In the first incident, aides of gangster Akhilesh Singh were shot at by members of rival Sudhir Dubey gang in Patelnagar under Sitaramdera Police Station.
All the injured — Somnath Singh, Vikram Singh, Sachin Singh, Ansu Chauhan, Raj Kumar Singh, Kanhaiya Singh and Sonu Singh — are residents of Bagbera and undergoing treatment at TMH. The injured have told police that they were asked to come to the spot by a member of Sudhir Dubey gang, Kalu Rai.
According to police sources, Somnath Singh has said in his statement that after reaching the site they searched for Kalu Rai but the latter, who was allegedly hiding in the dark in a narrow lane, suddenly opened fire on them.
He has also told police that Raja Singh, Suraj Yadav and Rajiv Ram, among others, who were on board two SUVs, simultaneously opened fire on them.
“The shooting incident is the outcome of enmity between the two rival gangs,” said Sitaramdera Police Station in-charge, Anjani Kumar. He said four empty cartridges have been recovered from the spot and raids are underway to nab the culprits. “No FIR has been lodged yet,” the OC said.
In a separate incident, one Sonu Mishra shot dead his neighbour, Saurabh Jha (18). The victim’s family members told police that Sonu often made his dog defecate near their house and this had led to a quarrel between him and Saurabh earlier this week. The murder took place in Pandit line under Olidih Police Station in the early hours of Thursday. The accused was arrested after he surrendered before police. Sonu Mishra (20) is an accused in three different cases, including murder and extortion.
