Man arrested for attacking rival with screw driver

Ludhiana: Jagraon city police on Thursday morning arrested a man after he attacked another person with a screw driver over an old enmity in Kukar Chowk of Jagraon. The accused was identified as Manjit Singh of Rampur Mohalla.
Complainant Gurdeep Singh Gori of Rampur Mohalla told cops that on April 27 night, he along with his cousin Parminder Singh were sitting outside their houses when the accused Manjit started abusing them while going home, without a reason. He added that when they asked him not to do it, he started arguing with them, and later a neighbour intervened, after which he left from the spot.
Gori told police officials that later when he was going home, the accused stopped him and pierced a screw driver in his back, because of which he suffered an injury and became unconscious. He added he was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where the doctors referred him to the civil hospital in Jagraon, and the doctors there further referred him to DMC Hospital in Ludhiana.
Gori said a few days ago, his cousin had fought with the accused, and since he had supported his cousin, the accused wanted to take revenge on him. After suffering injuries, he said he had informed the police, who started a probe into the matter.
Police later booked the accused under sections 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. SHO of Jagraon City police station, inspector Jagjit Singh, said the accused was arrested from Jagraon on Thursday morning. He added that the condition of the complainant was stable.
