SILCHAR: Ten persons, who were arrested on Wednesday and Thursday in connection with the murder of a daily wage labourer at Safala village under Nilambazar police station in Karimganj district, were produced before a court on Thursday and sent to judicial custody.
An FIR was lodged on Monday by the labourer’s wife Rahena Begum accusing 10 persons of killing her husband Najrul Islam. As per the FIR, a group of 10-12 people armed with sharp-edged weapons barged into Najrul’s house at Safala village, around 2.30am on Sunday night and brutally assaulted him.
Najrul, who was in bitter terms with the people (accused) over a land-related dispute, was hit on his head with a weapon because of which he sustained critical injuries. Najrul passed away while being taken to a hospital, the FIR said.
