FALL RIVER — Fall River residents are encouraged to come together to clap, cheer and show appreciation for essential employees during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Clapping and cheering can be done from windows, porches, front yards or sidewalks. Residents must practice social distancing of 6 feet or more and may not gather in groups of 10 or larger.

Fall River Government Center will be lit up in blue to support our essential workers. Places of worship are asked to join this recognition by ringing their bells on Wednesday, May 6, at 7 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to share their efforts on social media using the hashtag #ClapBecauseWeCare.

For any questions, call Mayor Paul Coogan’s office at 508-324-2600.
