Meghalaya government to take call on allowing citizens to travel back after May 3

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya government will take a call on allowing its citizens stranded outside the region to travel back to their home state after May 3, state health minister Alexander Laloo Hek said.
“We will first see the situation till May 3. After that only the government will take some decision. Before that I don’t think we will take any decision on allowing our people return from outside the region….within the state it will be allowed,” he said.
Hek said, “So far we are containing Covid-19 in the state very well and not allowing the spread of the virus. So far the positive cases have all been from one single source and not spread.”
He said that out of the 12 positive cases in the state, there are three active cases, who are being re-tested. “All the eight others have been cured and after re-testing have been found to be negative.” The first positive case has deceased.
Meanwhile, the state government is preparing the modalities or granting permit to the movement of citizens from the state who are stranded in other states within the northeastern region only after May 5 and has notified that " those who intend to return home may fill up the online form at http://meghalayaonline.gov.in/covid on or before May 4, 2020,” an official notification issued by the chief secretary said.
