Lucknow: Another hospital closed as woman tests Covid-19 positive

LUCKNOW: Another private hospital was closed in the city after a 90-year-old woman patient was diagnosed with Covid-19 on Thursday. Besides, two more female patients, including an 18-year-old girl, were found to be infected with novel coronavirus in other areas, taking city’s tally to 218 so far.
The elderly woman was in a private hospital in Lalbagh where her son is a doctor.
The entire staff of the hospital has been asked to self quarantine and their swab samples have been sent for tests.
The hospital was closed for sanitisation, making it fourth private medical facility in the city to have been shut temporarily after patients admitted for various ailments and complications were diagnosed with Covid-19 The Shankarpuri locality in Model House area where the elderly patient lives has been sealed. She was on oxygen support andlater shifted to SGPGI. Health officials are tracing her source of infection. Her family members have been quarantined and will be tested as well.
Official said that the 18-year-old girl, a resident of Sainik Vihar colony in Telibagh, who has tested positive, has travelled to Dehradun. She got her tested at a private lab after developing flu-like symptoms. However, her samples have been sent again for confirmation and source of infection is being traced. Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Narendra Agarwal rejected reports that the girl was among 281 students brought to Lucknow from Kota.
The third patient, a 25-yearold woman, was from the hotspot Phoolbagh locality in Kaiserbagh. Her neighbour had earlier tested positive. “Both the Telibagh and Phoolbagh patients have been sent to Lokbandhu Hospital and family members have been told to quarantine themselves at home,” said the CMO.
Regarding elderly women, director of the private hospital,Dr Moazzam Jah said,“The woman was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital on Wednesday morning due to difficulty in breathing. She needed emergency care. Health staff took all safety precautions during the treatment. Her swab samples were sent for testing at a government approved private lab. The report on Thursday morning found her positive. We immediately informed the CMO office and quarantined our staff.” Meanwhile, the critically ill 58-year-old government doctor from Orai, who was given convalescent plasma therapy at KGMU remains stable but on ventilator support.
