CASES RISING IN MAHARASHTRA
Maharashtra being the worst-hit states in the country measured for nearly half of Thursday's national COVID-19 count. Over 583 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the state.
With this, the state tally has crossed the grim milestone of 10,000. On Thursday, Maharashtra also recorded over 15 deaths, taking the total number of death toll to 459. Maharashtra now becomes the first state to witness 10,000 COVID-19 cases.

The neighbouring state of Maharashtra, Gujarat also observed a spike in positive cases with 313 fresh cases reported on Thursday, taking the total of the state to 4,395. Gujarat is the second-worst affected state after Maharashtra by coronavirus pandemic in India.
Talking about the cases in the nation’s capital, Delhi reported 76 new cases in 24 hours taking the tally to 3,515. The death count in Delhi stands at 59.
Coming to the southern part of India, Tamil Nadu witnessed 161 fresh cases on Thursday, taking the aggregate COVID-19 count to 2,323 in the state.
In a sigh of relief, Madhya Pradesh observed a drop in fresh cases of coronavirus. In the last 24 hours, the state reported 99 positive cases.
Over 25 per cent of COVID-19 patients have been recovered from the infection so far. According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, at least 8,888 people were cured.
As the 40-day countrywide lockdown nears an end on May 4, India now plans an exit from the lockdown.
