Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said the board examinations for Classes X and XII will be held and a related detailed announcement would be made by the government after May 3.

Speaking to this daily following the announcement by the Centre that the nationwide lockdown would be extended by another 14 days, Sawant said the board exams will be held and the schedules for SSC examination and the remaining two papers of HSSC are ready.

He said the state government will take a review on how to go ahead with more economic activities. “We will go through the new guidelines of the lockdown to be extended for another 14 days,” he said.

Sawant also said the state government has already issued permission to more than 2,000 Goans, who have been stranded in various states in the country. He said some have already started their travel to Goa by road.

Welcoming the central government’s decision to run special trains for stranded citizens to move to their native places, Sawant said the state government has already begun the process to allow migrants to proceed to their homes outside the state. “We are ready to provide our Kadamba Transport Corporation buses to transport them till the borders on request from the concerned people or any company,” he said.

The Chief Minister said though Goa has been declared a green zone for COVID-19, the precautions that have been laid down such as wearing of masks and maintaining social distancing will continue in the state.
