No leads in Balmain murder

The police have no leads into the killing of a man in Balmain, Couva, on Wednesday.
Police said they are still in search of the man who shot David Ramkissoon at Greig Street that afternoon.
Comments on social media said the matter may have been drug-related, but a close relative of Ramkissoon, who wished not to be named because she feared for her safety, said the allegations were not true.
She added that the family will not speak with the media because they are also scared for their lives.
She told Newsday: “David was in the wrong place at the wrong time. He heard there was a disagreement between some family members and went to find out.
“We do not know the person who shot him, but hope the police finds him soon.”
Police said Ramkissoon, 40, had an argument with a female friend earlier in the day. At about 3.40 pm the same day he confronted the woman, who was in the front passenger seat of a gold Nissan Navara. There was an argument and the man driving the car shot Ramkissoon several times. He died at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The relative said the woman at the centre of the matter was not related to Ramkissoon.
“We do not know who she was with at the time of the incident,” she said.
The relative said Ramkissoon’s death has been shocking for everyone. She described him as a kind, loving and good person.
“He was the fourth child of seven children and was always doing things to make everyone laugh, especially his mother. They were very close.
“I do not understand why this has happened. His mother is unable to come to terms with what took place,” she said.
She said Ramkissoon lived in Fyzabad and would often visit his mother in Couva and stay by her from time to time.
“He worked offshore, so he tried to spend as much time as possible with her. It is a very sad time for all of us.”
Another relative said, “This is unbelievable. David wasn’t in anything. He doesn’t get involved in stupid things.
"We are sad, angry and frustrated, but we can’t do anything.”
Homicide Bureau Region III led by PC Latchman is investigating.
