At the time of COVID-19 pandemic when the whole world is under lockdown and no one is able to step out of their home smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi decided to launch new smartphones. Today, the company has launched the Redmi Note 9 and the Redmi Note 9 Pro under its Redmi brand which is now independent. The company also announced the Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite at the event. This was the global launch of the Redmi Note 9 and Mi Note 10 Lite. The Redmi Note 9 Pro was launched in India about a month ago.

Due to the COVID-19 Xiaomi hosted an online launch event of the Redmi Note 9 series today starting 8pm UTC (5.30pm IST). The launch event was streamed on YouTube and Xiaomi’s social media platforms. Notably, the Redmi Note 9 Pro is the same phone as the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max in India with 64MP quad camera setup and Snapdragon 720G. The Redmi Note 9 in comparison comes with 48MP quad camera setup and MediaTek processor.

Smartphone sale in India has been halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. The Redmi Note 9 Pro price in India starts at Rs 13,999 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model and Rs 16,999 for the top-end 6GB + 128GB of internal storage variant. The Pro is slightly expensive. The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max India price starts at 17,999 for 6GB RAM + 128GB storage, Rs 16,499 for 6GB RAM + 64GB storage, and lastly, Rs 19,999 for 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. The Redmi Note 9 is yet to arrive in India.

Xiaomi Mi 10 Lite launched globally, starts at Euro 349

Redmi Note 9 global price announced

The Redmi Note 9 comes in two variants:  3GB RAM 64GB storage at Euro 199 and 4GB RAM 128GB storage at Euro 249. In comparison, the Redmi Note 9 Pro comes in two variants:  6GB RAM 64GB storage at Euro 269 and 6GB RAM 128GB storage at Euro 299. The Redmi Note 9 is expected to head to India soon. However, Xiaomi India is yet to confirm the details.

The company begins the event by talking about the success story of the Redmi Note 8 series before announcing the Redmi Note 9 series globally. The announcement starts with Redmi Note 9 Pro. It comes in three colour options, quad rear camera setup, 6.67-inch dot display, 2-:9 aspect ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on front and back, side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone includes a 64MP primary rear camera similar to the Pro Max in India. The phone further includes: an ultra-wide lens, macro, and cinematic portrait lens. It includes 16MP front camera that can shoot slow motion videos. Other features: Snapdragon 720G, 5020mAh battery, 30W fast charging in the box, NFC support.

Redmi Note 9 Pro Max specifications

The Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is a top-end version of the Pro. The phone comes with a 6.67-inch Full HD+ punch-hole display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor, a quad-rear camera setup but with 64MP primary sensor. Other rear cameras are: 8MP ultra wide + 5MP macro + 2MP depth combination. On the front, the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max includes a 32MP selfie camera. The phone also includes a punch-hole screen, a 5020mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging support, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. This one also comes with NavIC support.

Redmi Note 9 Pro specifications

The Redmi Note 9 Pro launched in India a couple of months ago. The phone includes some top-notch features such as a 6.67-inch dot display, Snapdragon 720G processor paired with Adreno 618 GPU, quad-rear camera setup with primary 48MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright GM2 sensor. Other cameras are an 8MP ultrawide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor.

The Redmi phone includes a 16MP selfie camera, a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support in the box, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 3.5mm audio jack, IR blaster, and triple-layer Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front and back. It also comes with NavIC support, also known as Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS), which is an autonomous regional satellite navigation system developed by ISRO. Everything about Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite

At the launch event today Xiaomi will also announce the Mi Note 10 Lite. This is the third smartphone that the company will launch in the series. The other two devices are Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro. According to leaks, the Mi Note 10 Lite will come with a quad-camera setup at the back, waterdrop-style notch, Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC, and 5,260mAh battery with 30W fast charging support. Leaks suggest that the phone will be available in three colours – Black, White, and Blue.

Redmi Note 9 pricing

According to leaks circulating on the internet the Redmi Note 9 will be launching in China as Redmi 10X. A Chinese Telecom listing has tipped that the Redmi 10X will be priced at CNY 1,499 in China which translates to Rs 16,000 in INR. We will need to wait for Xiaomi to officially confirm the global price of the Redmi Note 9. In India -- as the tradition goes -- the Redmi Note 9 -- will be the cheapest phone of the series. No details on the India launch from the company yet.

According to several leaks circulating on the internet, the Redmi Note 9 will come with a 6.53-inch full-HD+ screen with 90hz screen refresh rate, MediaTek Hellio G85 SoC, up to 6GB RAM, MIUI 11, based on Android 10, 48MP quad camera setup at the back, and 5,020mAh battery. We will have to wait for Xiaomi to confirm the specifications.
