Tikiapara violence: 10 held, raids on

HOWRAH: Ten people have been arrested for their involvement in the violence at Howrah’s Tikiapara. Raids are on at several places to aqrrest at least 150 more, who were allegedly involved in the violence.
Chief minister Mamata Banerjee said: “I have asked police to take action and they are doing so.”
Since Tuesday evening, Rapid Action Force ( RAF ) men have been staging route marches along Belilious Road, East-West Bypass and the different lanes and bylanes of Tikiapara. The same routine was also followed on Wednesday.
Howrah City Police commissioner Kunal Agarwal said: “We have started probing Tuesday’s clash from all angles. We are open to investigating allegations that police assaulted a woman if she (the alleged victim) comes forward to lodge a complaint. We are probing the attack on police and what led to it.”
Agarwal said that peace prevails in the area now and residents have come forward to construct a peace keeping force to assist cops.
The Additional District Magistrate of Howrah, Dhaval Jain, has been given the additional charge of Commissioner of Howrah Municipal Corporation until further orders, according to the orders issued by the West Bengal government on Wednesday.
