"Bhag jaldi Dilli pagal," were the words of veteran actor Rishi Kapoor to Union minister Smriti Irani in 2014 when he came to know that she had been summoned to the national capital take oath after the formation of a new government. Paying a moving tribute to Kapoor, Irani remembered her last meeting with the actor on a movie set.

Rishi Kapoor was a part of Imtiaz Ali's much loved film 'Love Aaj Kal'. Recalling the time he spent with the veteran actor, the filmmaker took to Instagram to share a still from the film and wrote how he was nervous to direct the actor. He also shared a personal memory when Kapoor attended his brother's wedding in Kashmir. Concluding the note, Imtiaz wrote, "I will think he is still there, smiling."

Time is passing. The other day he was on my set. I was nervous, he was the biggest actor I had worked with. I touched his feet and asked him to guide me. He guided me. Another day I invited him to my brother’s wedding in Kashmir. Nobody comes so far, these are formalities. He came. And when the baraat was entering the venue he said -“you guys go in front, I will come in the end”. I understood later that he did not want the attention to shift from the groom to himself. And today he left. Something precious became past today. But this time will not take him away. I haven’t met him for so long anyway, I will think he is still there, smiling. And I can still think of the little time I could spend with him, and smile with him.

It is being reported that Kareena Kapoor along with husband Saif Ali Khan has reached the hospital to be with Neetu and Ranbir Kapoor.

"We have lost a great human being, lost a very honest human being, lost a subtle, spontaneous actor. I have lost my dear friend, my elder brother," said Umesh Shukla, who directed Rishi Kapoor in  2018 film 102 Not Out.   

In 2018, Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with cancer for the first time, following which the actor was in New York for nearly a year to undergo treatment.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday condoled the death of Rishi Kapoor, saying the veteran actor was the torch-bearer of an illustrious legacy whose contribution to the film industry is unparalleled. He was not only a good actor, but also a straight forward human being, Thackeray said in a condolence message.

Alia Bhatt is said to have reached the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital to be with Rishi Kapoor's family. A video of her car at the hospital was shared on social media.

It is being reported that Rishi Kapoor's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahani has sought special permissions from the Ministry of Home Affairs to travel to Mumbai from Delhi. Delhi police is said to be facilitating the same.
