UP board class X, XII special classes to run on DD

LUCKNOW: In addition to the online classes, UP government is trying all ways to reach out to its students in remotest area, during the lockdown period. For, UP’s Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (Secondary Education Board) will, from May 1 telecast special classes for X and XII students’, on Doordarshan.

The step, said officials has been taken due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has severely impacted the studies, particularly of students who would appear for Board examinations in 2021.

“Uncertainty looms large on when the schools will re-open. In such an extraordinary situation, class X and XII students can start their studies with these special classes,” said Aradhna Shukla, principal secretary (secondary education).


As per the schedule, the broadcasting will be done on DD’s Swayamprabha channel for two hours, 10 am to 12 noon everyday. There will be four classes, two each of class X and class XII which will be telecasted. Each class will be of 30 minutes. The classes will be repeated in the evening. DD’s Swayamprabha is a study channel launched by the union human resource development ministry.

The recordings of the videos to be aired on DD is underway at the APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University. In the videos, teachers explain the chapters which the students can watch on DD. The recordings are done for all core subjects including English, Hindi, mathematics, science, social sciences.
