NSUI helps return of 400 Kashmiri students from Patiala amid coronavirus lockdown

CHANDIGARH: After a request from hundreds of students studying in various colleges in Patiala and Mohali, the National Students' Union of India's (NSUI) Punjab helped in their safe return back home amidst the ongoing curfew imposed in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.
NSUI president Akshay Sharma said he approached Patiala MP Preneet Kaur for facilitating the return after the students who sought permission to go to their homes. She later tweeted, "Its our duty to see them reach home safe and healthy. I wish all of you a nice time with your families."
First batch of 130 students studying in various colleges in Rajpura, Patiala and Mohali have left from Patiala on Thursday morning and remaining will leave soon, leading to emotional scenes with some students getting overwhelmed at the thought of uniting with their families. The administration is arranging for their return at the earliest, Akshay Sharma added.
