PRAYAGRAJ: A 50-year-old man who had come to
Prayagraj from Nashik three days ago tested positive for novel coronavirus (Covid-19) on Thursday, taking the district’s tally to five cases till now. Of these, one patient has recovered, while the rest of them are undergoing treatment at
Covid-19 Level One Hospital in Kotwa.

Dr Rishi Sahai said, "The man is a native of Kaundhiyara area and returned to Prayagraj from Nashik on April 27. He was quarantined at a centre in Naini and tested positive for the infection on Thursday."
Sahai said the man was a priest by profession and worked in Nashik. He was shifted to Covid-19 Level One Hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, health department officials have been compiling details about the man’s travel history.
Officials said that the patient’s swab sample was collected on Tuesday. Officials said that he arrived in the city along with two others, who have quarantined at centres in Arial and Naini.
Meanwhile, two persons were also tested positive for Covid-19 in
Pratapgarh district on Thursday. SP (Pratapgarh) Abhishek Singh said, "The two men and their families had returned from Kurla in Maharashtra last week. Six members of their family have been quarantined at a centre after they returned to their home town in Barahupur village, under the limits of Kohdaur police station."
The two persons are likely to be shifted to Covid-19 Level One Hospital in Kotwa for treatment.
Last week, two labourers who worked in Mumbai and had come to Prayagraj to attend a family member’s funeral also tested positive. They were cousins and were residents of Kapari village in Shankargarh area of the city. Apart from these, a youth who had travelled in a train coach along with a coronavirus patient in March first week also tested positive for the disease. The 37-year-old youth is a resident of Shivkuti area. Soon after three tested positive for the virus, Shankargarh and Shivkuti were declared Covid-19 hotspots and sanitised.
The first Covid-19 case to be reported from Prayagraj district was an Indonesian national who had come to the city after attending the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi, which has been linked to several novel coronavirus cases across the country. Earlier in April, six novel coronavirus cases were reported from Pratapgarh and all of them were linked to the Tablighi Jamaat event.
