Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor passed away in Mumbai today. The actor was admitted to the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital on Wednesday morning. The actor's last rites were performed at Chandanwadi Crematorium in Kalbadevi, Mumbai.
Kapoor's daughter, Riddhima Kapoor Sahani has sought special permissions from the Ministry of Home Affairs to travel to Mumbai from Delhi, but she couldn't make it to the cremation. Present for the final rites were his son Ranbir Kapoor, wife Neetu Kapoor, brothers Randhir and Rajiv Kapoor, his sister Rima Jain and his nieces and nephews Kareena along with her husband Saif Ali Khan, Armaan and Aadar Jain among others. From the industry, Abishek Bachchan, Alia Bhatt and Ayan Mukerji were also present.
Rishi Kapoor's rebellion was a bit tame but still powerful for an India, which chained to hoary conventions and strange taboos was gasping for air.

Parineeti Chopra, who shared the screen with Rishi Kapoor in 'Sudh Desi Romance' posted a still from the film, writing, "This cannot be true! Rishi sir was my favourite man, and favourite co-star ever. I still remember being nervous around him in Shuddh Desi Romance. He would put me at ease and treat me just like a friend! Will never forget every advice, every joke he told."

Kapoor returned to India last September after undergoing treatment for cancer in the US for almost a year. He was previously taken to the hospital in February earlier this year after being diagnosed with an infection.

This has been a tragic week from the entertainment industry as the news of Rishi Kapoor's death came a day after Irrfan Khan passed away due to colon infection and a rare form of neuroendocrine cancer on Wednesday.
