As the environment of the country is presently due to Corona, the whole country is facing an economic problem, because of this, the Kerala government has an ordinance to cut the salary of its employees to remove the shortage of money in the ongoing war against the Coronavirus. They decided to bring it on Wednesday. Under the ordinance, the state government will deduct 25 percent of the salary of its employees in this emergency.
The government, in its order, said that for the next five months, the salary of the state government employees will be deducted for six days every month.
The order also said that ministers, legislators, members of various boards, local bodies, commissions will get 30 percent less salary for one year.
The order stated that it would apply to all state-owned enterprises, employees of public sector undertakings, semi-government organizations, universities, etc.
Earlier, the Kerala High Court had on Tuesday stayed the state government's order to cut the salaries of government employees for two months to fight the COVID-19 epidemic. Justice B Kurian Thomas issued this interim order considering various petitions challenging the government's decision. These petitions have been filed by the employees and their organizations.
