THANE: As many as 23 people
tested positive for
Covid-19 in Thane on Wednesday, 10 of whom are from the densely populated Waghle Estate. Eight of these 10 patients had come in contact with a social worker.
So far, Thane city has reported around 279
positive patients, more than 50 of whom have been discharged so far.
“A social worker from that area and his father tested positive a few days ago. Thereafter, around 50 high-risk contacts of the man were tested as he had distributed food and provided help to them. Thirty-two of them tested negative, a few were tested twice and some results are pending,” said Sandeep Malvi, deputy municipal commissioner, TMC.
Twenty-three positive
cases were reported from Kalwa, Mumbra and Uthalsar too.
Meanwhile, a
former MP (45) and his
wife recovered from Covid and were discharged from a Thane-based private hospital late on Tuesday. They were admitted to the hospital around a fortnight ago.
