SWANSEA — Swansea Little League President Marc Haslam said the league is committed to having a season, but it is up in the air how it will be done.

Haslam said Little League International has been giving guidance on when seasons could start. Initially, he said the league delayed all activities until May 11, but he thinks it is unrealistic that the season will start at that time.

Haslam said a summer or fall league could be held in Swansea.

"I think it's important that they have an organized activity that they can be part of, " Haslam said.

He said the baseball season would be a great way for youths to come back from the pandemic restrictions.

"We're committed to the kids, the parents and the families of the league to kick off a season somehow," Haslam said.

Haslam said the schedules of the local leagues and all-star teams are usually based on when the Little League World Series is in August. He said he has talked to Little Leagues in other towns about how they are planning to have a season. Haslam said if the Little League World Series is canceled, the leagues can have their own championships.

"I plan on playing," Haslam said. "We're still committed to playing. I just don't know when it's going to happen."
