Tamil Nadu’s
Covid-19 cases reached 2,323 on Thursday with 161 patients testing positive for the novel
coronavirus infection. More than 85% of the day’s cases-- 138 cases -- were reported from Chennai. With these, the total number of cases in Chennai reached 906.
Koyambedu continued to remain the hotspot with more vendors and grocers and their close contacts testing positive for the viral infection.
Greater Chennai Corporation officials said staff were being sent into Thattankulam and Teeds Garden in Pulanthope area beside Adams Street in Triplicane for containment measures.
On Thursday, 48 people were discharged from various hospitals taking the total number of people discharged to 1,285. However, the number of active cases – the number of people admitted to hospitals with Covid-19 infection -- in the state has been steadily increasing. From 809 on Monday, it touched ,1035 on Thursday.
The death toll remained 27.
